I got carded for milk the other day… no joke. Can you imagine that? Okay, I guess I should explain. I walked into a 7-Eleven at the exact same time as some girl I didn’t know. She headed to the counter to buy cigarettes. I just wanted a gallon of milk. Simple mission. I stepped up to the counter while the cashier was in the middle of carding her — and then he asked me for my ID too. I’m thinking… what on earth is this about? So I asked, “What for?” He says, “State law. I have to card everyone in the group.” I said, “I’m not with her.” The girl even backed me up and said “Yeah, I don’t know him.” But the cashier wouldn’t budge. “You two came in at the same time,” he says. “I have to card both of you.” She tried again. “He literally just parked next to me.” The cashier shrugs. “I don’t know that!" "I could get fined six hundred bucks!" So at that point I just sigh, pull out my ID, and shake my head. “I can honestly say,” I told him, “I’ve never been carded for milk before.” The girl jumps in and says, “Fat-free milk, in fact.” I said, “Well… I suppose I should be flattered.” She then says, “Yeah — you look about sixteen.” And then we all just lost it. Even the cashier was laughing. I think it’s safe to say he’s never carded anyone for milk before. Now, I really hope the girl was being sarcastic about me looking sixteen… But seriously — carded for milk? Come on, man! Since you have to be born to drink it, just how old did this cashier think I was, anyway?
