[Verse] Cruising down this lonesome road got nothing left to lose Headlights cut through darkness searching for some clues Radio's hiss and static beneath the midnight sky For you I keep on driving 'til the morning light [Chorus] I'm on this midnight ride just to see your face Through desert nights and city lights I'll find my place There's an empty seat beside me where you used to be On this endless midnight ride come on back to me [Verse 2] Every mile that passes your memory lingers on Gas stations and motels where have you gone Smell of old leather seats and cigarette ash I floor it through the night remembering our past [Chorus] I'm on this midnight ride just to see your face Through desert nights and city lights I'll find my place There's an empty seat beside me where you used to be On this endless midnight ride come on back to me [Bridge] Tires hum a mournful tune across the broken line Moonlight shadows chasing memories of lost time Heart's a weary traveler but it knows the way Driving through to find you and to beg you to stay [Chorus] I'm on this midnight ride just to see your face Through desert nights and city lights I'll find my place There's an empty seat beside me where you used to be On this endless midnight ride come on back to me
