I met them on a stair of glass Four soft feet, one paper pass Moonlit wool and a crooked grin They knew my name and let me in One had rain in its curly ears One kept count of my little fears They hopped the fence of my sleeping mind Leaving hoofprints in turquoise lines Oh, they leaned in close Like a secret door Oh, I followed slow To a field of more The adventures of my dream sheep My dream sheep, my dream sheep They run through the deep sleep The dream sheep, the dream sheep (come along) The adventures of my dream sheep My dream sheep, my dream sheep They know where the wild keeps The dream sheep, the dream sheep One wore a crown of kitchen keys One ate sparks from the apple trees They drank from a bowl of silver dust Then turned my ache to a ring of rust We crossed a bridge made of breathing thread Past a barn where the pillows bled They laughed like bells with a velvet seam And pulled my shadow out of the dream Oh, they leaned in close Like a secret door Oh, I followed slow To a field of more The adventures of my dream sheep My dream sheep, my dream sheep They run through the deep sleep The dream sheep, the dream sheep (come along) The adventures of my dream sheep My dream sheep, my dream sheep They know where the wild keeps The dream sheep, the dream sheep Shh, now I hear them breathe In the walls of the dark Shh, now I hear them sing With a hole in my heart One by one They name the sky One by one They teach me how to fly The adventures of my dream sheep My dream sheep, my dream sheep They run through the deep sleep The dream sheep, the dream sheep (ooh, ooh) The adventures of my dream sheep My dream sheep, my dream sheep They know where the wild keeps The dream sheep, the dream sheep
