Title: The Mirror and the Window / הַמַּרְאָה וְהַחַלוֹן Verse 1: R’ Yitzchak Isaac of Ziditchov, wise and true, Had a chasid wealthy through and through, But with his wealth, he changed his way, And closed his door to all who came to stay. Chorus: Look through the window, see the world, Not in the mirror, where your riches swirl, Take away the silver from your eyes, And welcome those passing by. Verse 2: One stormy night, with winds so cold, Some chasidim came, the storm was bold, They sought to enter, but were denied, So they continued on their way, outside. Verse 3: The Rebbe came, with sadness deep, His chasid’s wealth now made him weep, A mirror held, with silver bright, Reflecting only his own light. Chorus: Look through the window, see the world, Not in the mirror, where your riches swirl, Take away the silver from your eyes, And welcome those passing by. Verse 4: He took him to the window wide, Where through the glass, he saw outside, The chasid knew, the lesson clear, His riches blurred the faces near. Chorus: Look through the window, see the world, Not in the mirror, where your riches swirl, Take away the silver from your eyes, And welcome those passing by.
