[Verse] Uncle Johnny rolled into Vegas Cards close to his chest Under neon lights flick'rin' He wanted just one conquest At a smoky corner table Where fortunes dance and sway He met a lady shufflin' that'll forever change his way [Verse 2] She had eyes like desert sunsets Lips chapped by desert air Dealin' out the cards of fate With a poker face so fair Uncle Johnny tipped his hat Laid his hand upon the deck "Darlin' It's more than just the cards The stakes are high I suspect." [Chorus] Oh Uncle Johnny With his cowboy grin so wide Found more than aces Found love by his side In a city of chance 'neath a gambler’s creed The heart bets high when it’s love we need [Verse 3] She dealt him an 'eight' of diamonds He held the 'king of hearts ' With every card that hit the table Felt love’s tender sparks Uncle Johnny Ever cautious Let down that guard of steel In every bluff and raise Was a dream he could feel [Verse 4] They talked 'bout broken dreams Over cheap whiskey neat Tales of dusty roads And shadows they couldn't beat Uncle Johnny kissed her hand As the final card was drawn Winning never felt this fine 'til love had finally dawned [Chorus] Oh Uncle Johnny With his cowboy grin so wide Found more than aces Found love by his side In a city of chance 'neath a gambler’s creed The heart bets high when it’s love we need
