--- Still having fun with the "grunge" album concept. In this case, the song is about how everyone has low key simmering anger that is ready to bubble up at any moment. Typically, people forget the fact that others might be going through the same things or at least similar with regards to the simmering anger that they hold inside. Wanted to keep the song rather low and have the vocals range from a simmer to a loud boil too. Worked out pretty well. Some of the adlibs / vocal snippets in the background worked out well as they sound like they come from a different singer. ~David --- [Musical Introduction] [Slow, downtempo beat fades in — deep kick, dusty snare] [Moody bassline, slightly detuned] [Reverb-soaked guitar echoes like distant sirens] [Ad-libs, half-whispered, scattered] “Easy…” “Breathe…” “Not yet…” [Verse 1] It’s in the way you clench your jaw In the silence after small talk In the news you scroll past midnight And the words you never say out loud It’s in the traffic, in the break room In the bed that feels too wide Everybody’s carrying something Everybody says they’re fine [Ad-Lib Layer] [under verse] “Hold it down…” “Don’t let it show…” “Not worth it…” [Pre-Chorus] We keep it low, we keep it hidden Call it patience, call it control But pressure doesn’t need permission It just needs one crack to grow [Chorus] It’s a simmering anger Under skin and bone Low heat burnin’ We all carry our own Every smile’s a cover Every calm a lie We’re all standing in the fire Just pretending we’re not [Post-Chorus Hook] [Melodic, haunting, repeated)\] Simmering… Simmering anger… [Verse 2] Political rage, relationship scars Dead-end jobs and broken hearts Everybody’s got a reason Everybody’s got a line You don’t see it in their eyes Till the moment slips sideways One wrong word, one wrong second And the dam gives way [Ad-Lib Layer] “Careful…” “Too close…” “That’s enough…” [Pre-Chorus] We’re so busy guarding our demons We don’t notice someone else’s bleed So focused on surviving We forget what people need [Chorus] It’s a simmering anger Under skin and bone Low heat burnin’ We all carry our own You don’t know what they’re fighting You don’t know what they hide We’re all standing on a trigger Just waiting on time [Musical Interlude] [Beat strips back — bass pulses, guitar swells] [Ad-libs grow more frequent, overlapping] “Easy now…” “Still holding…” “Don’t look away…” “Any second…” [Bridge] Maybe it’s not just me Maybe it’s not just you Maybe we’re all walking wounds Trying not to split in two There’s no villain in the mirror Just a face that’s tired and tight Everybody’s got a fuse Burning quietly inside [Chorus – Final, More Intimate] It’s a simmering anger Yeah, I feel it too In the things I don’t say In the way I look at you No release, no answer No moral high ground Just a world full of people Trying not to burn it down [Lyrical Outro] [Nearly whispered] Everyone’s going through something… Everyone… [Musical Ending] [Beat continues for several bars after vocals stop] [Filter slowly closes until only the bass pulse remains] [Abrupt cut to silence — unresolved]
