## Walking Together: Songs for Solidarity ## This is an entry in the Walking Together songwriting contest. The WEF estimates there are over 150 million people without homes worldwide. This project is aimed at supporting efforts to help people "made of potential" out of homelessness in co-operation with Homeless Entrepreneurs. The winning song will be chosen as an anthem for HE's upcoming "Great Walk" and featured in a music video by David Israel. Homeless nights, cold streets where I’m restless, Staring at the sky, asking God where the test is. Used to have dreams, now I’m just surviving, Fighting for a crumb while my stomach’s still writhing. People walk past like I’m some kind of ghost, But they don’t see the fire in me burning the most. Lost it all, yeah, but I’m still standing tall, Been to hell and back, writing scriptures on the wall. I’m a soldier in this war, ain't accepting defeat, The world knocks me down, I get up on my feet, uh Chorus I lost it all, but I’m still here grinding, Through the dark clouds, I keep on finding. A spark of hope, yeah, the fight's still in me, I’ll rise again, they ain’t seen the real me. I lost my way, but I’m still surviving, Burned by the flames, but I’m still thriving. I’m climbing back, and they’ll see eventually, You can’t break a soul that’s meant to be free. Verse 2 They think I’m done, think I’m buried in the dirt, But I use that pain to fuel every verse. Every scar on my skin tells a story I’ve lived, Every tear that I’ve shed is a lesson it gives. Rock bottom ain’t the end, it’s a place to rebuild, Pressure makes diamonds, and my heart’s still filled. With a fire, with a hunger, I’m chasing my fate, While they sleep in their comfort, I’m out here awake. I’ve lost it all, but I’ve never lost me, I’m a fighter, a writer, with a dream they can’t see. So I hustle through the pain, yeah, I’m breaking the chains, This storm’s temporary; I’ll dance in the rain. Chorus I lost it all, but I’m still here grinding, Through the dark clouds, I keep on finding. Bridge I’ve seen the bottom, felt the weight of despair, But I’m still breathing, yeah, I’m still here. They can take my home, take the clothes that I wear, But they can’t touch the fire that I carry in the air. Every step that I take’s a victory in disguise, Every failure’s a lesson that keeps me alive. I’ll build my throne from the ashes they see, Homeless, but I’m never hopeless—this is me. Outro/Chorus I lost it all, but I’m still here grinding, Through the dark clouds, I keep on finding.
