[intro] (Keys click in the cup holder, engine coughs) Phones low We pull out slow [singer A] Keys in the cup holder Phones on low One hand on the wheel We already know [pre-chorus] Radio low, but the cabin keeps thumpin' Street by street, and the whole car jumpin' Hold that turn, let the corner come through One more block and the bass line too [chorus mix] Hook one, hook one Let the block hum Two girls in the back And the bass go dumb (uh-huh) Backseat laughs Eyes half-closed One more turn and the street froze (hey!) Hook one, hook one Let the block hum Two girls in the back And the bass go dumb Windows up Whole car clouded Keep that talk low, keep it crowded [transition] [singer B] (Bass wave sounds begin, low and pulsing) Fulton at 11:30, the whole block lit in a flicker of deli glass and red brake glow. (Bass waves swell slightly) Mia at the curb, one hand on the latch, watching the cars breathe past slow. Door eased open, AC coughing out cold air, fan rattling like change in a cup. The receipt roll hangs off the counter, curling white in the amber light. She checks the clock, the lock, the meter—like she’s counting down to the hit. Two girls cross the stripe with their phones up, laughing like they already know the script. A bus grinds in and hisses at the curb. Somebody on the stoop taps ash into a lid. A kid with a red bike palms a lighter, then slips it away. The corner feels like a held note, like the whole street waiting on her cue. Mia at the deli door with the keys in her hand, one nod from her and the block takes the stand. She hears that drop before it hits the wire, like headlights rolling in on a song that’s about to catch fire. Lock click, kick drum, let the night come through. Hook it up—Mia runs the whole block, too. [transition] [singer A] Roll once, then the van sways Bass hit hard and the seatback plays One got hoops One got ink Both talk slick Both don't blink Drive-thru run Fries on the dash Playlist stuck on the same old tracks She in my hoodie Snack in her hand Other one dancing Can't even stand Ash on her jeans Crumbs on the seat Mess in the ride But the vibe so sweet (yeah) [chorus mix] Hook two, hook two Pull me back in Two voices in the rear And the night starts grinnin' Backseat laughs Eyes half-closed One more loop and the block get chose [melodic interlude] [singer B] Mia on the stoop with the keys in her palm, one look from her and the late rush calms. She hears that thump before it hits the wire, keeps the door half-open, lets the room get higher. No big speech, just a tilt of the chin, and the bass comes through like a friend walking in. Lock click, kick drum, let it all slide. Mia runs the block on the low end ride. Hook it up, let it shake that floor. Hook it up, everybody want one more. [transition] [singer A] If the world calls Let it ring out We ain't trying to do the whole thing now Just this ride Just this room Just that sweet little smoke and boom No big plans No fake shine Just a little peace on my own time Two thick girls Bag of green And a life that stays low-key Keep it moving slow Let the speakers hum Couple more blocks Then we circle back home Same old ride Still feels new Hook three got me back with you [outro] (Keys in the cup holder) Phones on low Pull up home Bass still hum Mia at the door Block in our rearview Same road, same glow Last turn, we made it through
