Sometimes Sometimes I’m left wondering Why people choose hate Exactly what makes something great And why that is. Every time I wonder I come back to the divide Between the ones who have And those who wish they did. Surely something else is why Our lives are not complete It must be someone else’s fault And not our own. Seeing those succeeding When we feel we’re not enough Means surely Someone else is keeping us away…. But instead of looking outward To a place that’s not responsible Perhaps It’s you who didn’t make the grade. Maybe it’s your choices And not any other voices That have kept you Where you are Are you to blame? Could it be That the world ain’t the problem And the anger that you feel Is just misplaced? It’s easier to place the blame On anyone but you And yet It’s you, who made your choices every day. Yes it’s you who made mistakes along the way. And hate won’t change your circumstances. I have people close to me Who won’t see the world the same Who need somebody else to blame For how they’re living every day… Desperate for an answer Yeah a reason for their pain They try and lay it at the feet of others. We are all together And it’s where we find our strength And isolation will not heal the country. Take a private inventory Honest and non accusatory Accept that you’re the architect of Your own pain. You are great no matter who you are. It’s not too late to see reality The truth is not that far Stop believing others are The reason that you’re stuck. Accept hard work is more valuable Than luck. And fix yourself. Yeah Look into a mirror And fix yourself Quit your hate of others Fix yourself. This goes out to my mother. Fix yourself.
