The Swarm at the Creek

[Verse] Down by the creek where the willows weep The water runs shallow the mud runs deep A hum in the air a curse on my tongue The battle begins when the day is young [Chorus] Oh the swarm the swarm at the creek They’re biting my arms they’re biting my cheek I swat and I swing but they’re quick as can be The swarm at the creek it’s the death of me [Verse 2] I brought my boots I brought my pail Thought I’d catch fish but the plan has failed Instead I’m the feast for the winged brigade With itchy welts as their serenade [Prechorus] Buzz buzz buzz oh they’re closing in I can’t tell where they end or begin [Chorus] Oh the swarm the swarm at the creek They’re biting my arms they’re biting my cheek I swat and I swing but they’re quick as can be The swarm at the creek it’s the death of me [Bridge] A cloud of terror a blackened sky I yell to the heavens why oh why The fiddle’s playing my misery tune As I flee the creek by the light of the moon
