Friday Night (Day 3) Verse 1 It’s Friday night, it’s only Day 3, And reality’s kicking the shit outta me. Thought three hundred metres would be easy enough, Now I’m limping round the house acting all tough. The stairs hit harder than yesterday’s climb, Everything hurts and we’re only on Day 3 this time. Thirty-one days looked alright on paper, Now July’s feeling like a full-time labour. Chorus It’s Friday night and my other half wants a fight, ‘Cause I’ve spent all evening chasing mountain height. She says, “Can we just stay home for once?” I say, “I’ve still got eighty metres, love.” It’s only Day 3 and we’re already cooked, Everyone’s smiling for the photos they took. Deep down we’re thinking, “What have we done?” Mate… we’re not even one-tenth through this run. Verse 2 The group chat’s gone suspiciously quiet, Everyone’s pretending they still wanna try it. A few brave heroes posting summit views, The rest are Googling “How to fix sore glutes.” My watch says, “Recovery.” I laugh out loud. The leaderboard’s thinning out with every cloud. Funny how cocky we all were on Day 1, Now we’re negotiating with the setting sun. Bridge Tomorrow’s bigger. Sunday’s worse. Every day another little curse. We’re only warming up, that’s the scary part. This challenge doesn’t break your legs… it breaks your heart. Final Chorus It’s Friday night and the beers taste great, But another hundred metres can’t wait. So I’ll throw my shoes back on once again, Questioning every life choice in my brain. It’s only Day 3 and we’re already wrecked, Bodies writing cheques our brains can’t cash yet. Raise a glass to everyone still alive… See you tomorrow for Day 4.
