5. Two sides of the story (a space rock opera)

XENO1N | Chapter V -- Check out chapter 1-4 for the complete storyline -- The First Officer is looking for the stowaway on her ship. After finding her she noticed a remarkable resemblance with her friend from the past, but also herself!!! Then she noticed the watch on her wrist, glowing and the handles spinning like crazy... This watch is not just a watch. It is a microscopic supercollider that forces two neighboring universes into contact. Each crossing creates memory echoes between the two versions of the First Officer. The strange girl came aboard to prevent a collision between their universes, but she may already have caused it by crossing over... --------- TWO SIDES OF THE STORY (A space rock opera) Lyrics by MIIKA (c) October 2026 --------- [PART I : ASKING THE RIGHT QUESTIONS] [The First Officer] Footsteps echo down the corridor, Red lights flicker on the walls. I saw her face upon the monitor, Now there's no one here at all. A door I swear I've never opened, A room that feels like coming home. A photograph with my own eyes in it, But I remember being alone. [The First Officer] Where did you go? What do you know? Why does your face Feel like my own? [The First Officer] I remember rain upon the station, A silver watch against my skin. A promise made before departure, A girl who said, “I'll see you again.” But I never had a sister, Never left another me behind. So why are there two names in the logs? Why is her heartbeat matching mine? [The strange girl] You were never meant to find me, I was never meant to stay. I crossed a thousand miles of nothing From a world that slipped away. I hid beneath the cargo decks, I watched you sleep beneath the stars. I knew the sound of your breathing, I knew the shape of all your scars. [The strange girl] Look at me. Look closer now. I'm not a ghost. I'll tell you how. [The strange girl] In my world, I wore your uniform, I flew the ship you think you know. But our stars began to tremble, And the clocks forgot to flow. I found a watch inside the wreckage, A machine disguised as time. It pulled two neighboring worlds together, And brought your life in touch with mine. I crossed the space between our heavens, Through a wound no eye could see. I came aboard to stop the collision... To save you from becoming me. [The First Officer] Then why do I remember you As the girl I knew before? The friend who shared my childhood dreams, The one I waited for? [The alternate girl] Because the watch does more than move us. It lets our memories bleed. Every crossing leaves an echo; Every echo plants a seed. You remember what I lived through. I remember what you'll do. And every time the ship rewinds, I lose a little more of you. [PART II: MAKE A CHOICE] [The First Officer] If you're me, then who am I? [The alternate girl] The one who still can change the sky. [The First Officer] If you're real, then tell me why... [The alternate girl] I crossed the stars to keep you alive. [The First Officer]And if the watch brings worlds together? [The alternate girl] Then break the link before they collide. [The First Officer] But if I lose you... [The alternate girl] You'll still survive. [BOTH] Two sides of the stars, Two lives torn apart. One ship, one watch, One beating heart. Turn back the time, Or let worlds collide. I'm looking at myself On the other side. [The alternate girl] I didn't come here to replace you. [The First Officer] Then why does it feel like goodbye? [The alternate girl] Because in my world, I was the one who died. [BOTH] And now the watch is ticking backwards... [TO BE CONTINUED]
