Paradise Lost: 1 - 3 - Mornings Fall

I raised my banners in Heaven's light, I armed my host for the endless fight. With shining blades my legions stood, How bright I shone, Before rebellion claimed my throne. From heights of grace to depths untold, The heavens roared as thunder rang, The clash of swords, the angels' pangs. My legions soared on wings of fire, I sought a crown worthy of my name, I built a throne I thought beyond His claim. But the Father's wrath came down like stone, And everything I'd forged was The sky went red. Then it went black. My generals fell around me and I could not— We fell for nine days. Nine days of nothing. Wind and void and the sound of wings that wouldn't work anymore. And then the fire. I don't know how long I lay here. The lake doesn't move. Nothing moves here. The ones who followed me are somewhere in the dark and I brought them here. How bright I shone... From heights of grace... Was it worth it.
