I’m trying not to hide. Some days I’m afraid I’ll have to. I want the work out in the world. I’m scared of being seen beside it. I’m trying not to hide. I want a life outside this fear. I want to finish what I started and still feel safe being here. I made peace with what I can’t explain. I understand the whole picture now. I have the question. Now comes helping answer it. That sentence took some living. More didn’t wait for understood. There’s peace in what I’ve come to know. Now I want to make it useful. And now my fear looks human. It tries on familiar faces. I don’t know who would stand against me. My mind still rehearses conversations. What would I say? How much would I show? Could I let the work speak and keep a little life of my own? I want peace with nobody made smaller. Dignity nobody has to buy. If we could do more with less, would less be allowed to win? But I worry about the money. What a useful change could interrupt. I catch myself editing my entrance before I’ve even spoken up. There. That’s where I disappear. Making room for what I’m building. Leaving no room for me. I’m trying not to hide. Some days I’m afraid I’ll have to. I want the work out in the world. I’m scared of being seen beside it. I’m trying not to hide. I want a life outside this fear. I want to finish what I started and still feel safe being here
