[Verse] Every drop that falls tells a tale so true Even in the sunshine the blues find you Clouds roll heavy hearts they start to hum Rain whispers softly where the blues come from [Verse 2] Puddles form a mirror for the soul to see A quiet kind of sorrow a melody Strings start to strum the sky begins to cry The blues take root beneath a weeping sky [Chorus] Every time it rains the blues are born Even when it shines they’re weather-worn Rain soothes the pain in these rain-washed eyes We play our tunes where the sorrow lies [Verse 3] The rhythm of the storm keeps a steady beat Footsteps on the pavement the sound of defeat But in the darkest clouds there’s a song that grows A tune that only rain and heartache knows [Bridge] Guitar in hand we find a way to cope Strumming through the thunder chasing threads of hope Rain washes clean but it leaves behind A tune for the restless and the weary mind [Chorus] Every time it rains the blues are born Even when it shines they’re weather-worn Rain soothes the pain in these rain-washed eyes We play our tunes where the sorrow lies
