[Verse 1] He comes with dust on his hands From the cracks under your bed A little hush in the hall And a weight inside your head He knows your name by heart He knows the shape of fear When the room goes still He is already here [Pre-Chorus] If the air turns cold And the dark gets near Hold your breath, hold still Let him think you're sleeping here [Chorus] Don't look at him Don't look at him Close your eyes And let it pass Don't look at him Don't look at him If he finds your stare He'll poison your sleep at last [Verse 2] He paints the dreams in gold Then smears them black in sleep A mother lost in rain A child with no one to keep He brings the lullaby And the broken bone A velvet hand on your brow And a crow in the throat of home [Pre-Chorus] If you feel him lean By the edge of your bed Stay a perfect statue Keep the fear inside your chest [Chorus] Don't look at him Don't look at him Close your eyes And let it pass Don't look at him Don't look at him If he finds your stare He'll poison your sleep at last [Bridge] He walks where names dissolve In the half-lit land Every dream you saved In the fold of his hand So when he brushes close And the silence bends Breathe like a sleeper Let the darkness think you end [Final Chorus] Don't look at him Don't look at him Close your eyes And let it pass Don't look at him Don't look at him If he finds your stare He'll poison your sleep at last Don't look at him Don't look at him Stay like stone Till morning breaks at last
