I've Survived Worse

I’VE SURVIVED WORSE [INTRO] I don't wanna be dramatic— Actually, that's not true. I've earned a little drama. [BEAT DROP] [HOOK] I've survived worse Put that on a shirt Life tried to kill me young Now everything's just work I've survived worse Baby, do your worst Every time the plot gets bad I somehow make it worse— Then survive that too. I've survived worse. [VERSE 1] Cancer at fourteen That's a crazy little start Hospital bracelet before I had a broken heart Chemo, bad news Adults looking nervous Meanwhile I'm a kid like “Do we still have food service?” That's probably where Something got reversed Now disaster pulls up I'm like— I've survived worse. Not inspirational Please don't make it weird I didn't beat cancer just to become sincere I got older Got loud Platinum hair One tattoo on my ass And an unreasonable amount of nerve [HOOK] I've survived worse Put that on a shirt Life tried to kill me young Now everything's just work I've survived worse Baby, do your worst Every time the plot gets bad I somehow make it worse— Then survive that too. I've survived worse. [VERSE 2] Car won't start? I've survived worse. Money looking funny? I've survived worse. Man says, “You're gonna regret this.” Sir— I've survived worse. Why am I so chill? I survived worse. That's not confidence That's medically confirmed My threat assessment system Has been permanently disturbed If you aren't an oncologist Lower your voice when you talk to me You are not delivering The worst news I've received. [BEAT CUT] And yet somehow— Men remain optimistic. [VERSE 3] Had one in my parked car Wouldn't take the hint Asked him to get out He apparently said— “No ❤️” Interesting. So now I'm opening doors Helping grown men find exits Not my proudest moment But extremely effective I've survived worse. He survived me. Everybody lived. Beautiful ending. Next. [HOOK] I've survived worse Put that on a shirt Life tried to kill me young Now everything's just work I've survived worse You can save the concern I've been getting back up Since before it was earned I've survived worse I've survived worse Somebody tell the universe— You're gonna have to get more creative. [VERSE 4] I don't mean I'm fearless Fear and I have met We go way back That bitch owes me rent I've been scared-scared Not “he left me on read” I'm talking grown-ups whispering Around a hospital bed So heartbreak hurts And betrayal burns Life falls apart And sometimes I lose my turn But somewhere in my head There's still that little girl Looking at every new disaster like— “That's it?” [BRIDGE] Don't put sad piano under this. I'm serious. Take that shit out. I survived cancer. I am allowed to have bass. [BEAT RETURNS] [FINAL VERSE] I wasn't built fearless I got field experience Learned way too early Nothing here is guaranteed So I love too hard Laugh when it's inappropriate Make questionable choices Then somehow keep going with it Still here Still loud Still making shit Still turning bad years Into really good bits Still getting told “You cannot say that” Watch me. I paid for this sense of humor In pediatric oncology. [FINAL HOOK] I've survived worse That's the whole damn verse Life came for me early Should've finished the work I've survived worse Now the tables have turned Every scar got a story Every lesson got learned Not gracefully. Not quietly. But baby— I survived worse. [OUTRO] Cancer survivor. One tattoo on my ass. Terrible threat perception. Still here.
