Have you ever wondered about the meaning of life Asked yourself about the big five Where did I come from Who am I Why am I here How should I live Where am I going Let’s try answering the Big Five in verse and song Where did I come from I 'm pretty certain Detroit isn't the answer It’s more about the origin of humans or life on earth Many cultures have an origin or creation myth Science gives us a different and less colorful answer Fact is no one can be sure, and no song comes to mind Who am I This ones all about identity For me, “What Kind of Fool am I,” is a start, or “What a fool believes” I think Popeye said it best I am what I am and that's all that I am I think he was high on spinach at the time Why am I here One answer might be, this is where I live, but I think it’s about our purpose in life, our purpose on earth “Who can I turn to when nobody needs me” Might be an answer "What's going on" works too, Right now my purpose is to finish this lyric, and move on How should I live When I consider this question I start singing “If I were a rich man,” Of course its about one’s goals in life, Again I start singing “If I were a rich man,” However "slipping into darkness" could apply Where am I going I know the grocery store is a possible answer to this one Taking the last train to Clarksville Perhaps I'm 24 hours from Tulsa Maybe Kansas City and Phoenix, or Going to San Francisco with flowers in my hair So much for the big five The next five are even harder Honesty, kindness, decency and their dark side Just for a start, but I’ve run out of songs These will have to do, after all I am what I am and that's all that I am
