They told me be strong. So I learned how to hide the fracture. They praised the mask. Nobody asked what it cost. Then one night the mirror looked back at me and finally spoke. I was raised by the silence and unfinished cries, Little black storm with the night in my eyes, Learned to laugh through the hurt, keep the fear in disguise, Shake hands with the dark, make a home in the ice. Had a hole in my sleep, had a frost in my chest, Every win felt thin, every smile half-dressed, Everybody loves strength when it never says help, So I carried whole worlds while collapsing myself. Used jokes like a blade, turned the pain into art, Built a stage from the ruins, kept a flame in the dark, But the echo gets loud when the applause all stops, And the king feels small when he’s alone with his thoughts. See, the wound gets smart, it can learn how to dance, It can walk like a boss, it can talk like a man, It can post like a king, it can flex, it can grin, Still go home every night feeling broken within Truth got hands. Truth don’t knock. Truth walks in when the whole world drops. And mine said, You survived, but you still ain’t healed. You built a kingdom, but forgot how to feel. When the mirror finally spoke, I broke open wide, Saw the child in the smoke still trying to survive, All the chains I called strength, all the scars I called pride, All the nights I went numb just to feel more alive. If I’m made out of pain, I can still turn to light, If my soul got buried, I can still learn to rise, I am not just the wound, not the war, not the fight, I am every dead dream that came back and survived. There were days I felt cursed just for knowing too much, Too sharp for the lie, too awake for the rush, Saw the masks on the saints, saw the fear in the throne, Saw how people go loud when they’re hollow at home. Everybody wants love, but they bargain with image, Everybody says truth till the truth gets specific, Everybody wants depth till the water gets deep, Then they run to the shallow where the cheap things sleep. I got blood in my bars, got a prayer in my grit, Got the ghosts of the old me each time that I spit, But I’m tired of worshipping pain like a god, Tired of calling survival a beautiful heart. So I sat with the wreckage, no music, no phone, No crowd, no persona, just me and the bones, And the silence was brutal, but honest and clean, Like a blade cutting out everything fake in me. [Music strips back, piano and low choir] I forgive the old me, the one who only knew survival. I forgive the scared me, the one who turned to stone. I forgive the world for being cruel before I had words for it. But I won’t bow to it. I’ll turn it into meaning. When the mirror finally spoke, I broke open wide, Found a field under grief, found a fire inside, All the death I had known, all the tears I denied, Turned to blood in the roots, turned to truth in the light. If I’m made out of loss, I can still become love, If I’ve walked through the grave, I can still rise above, I am not just the wound, not the war, not the fight, I am every dead dream that came back into life. And if the mirror speaks to you tonight, listen. Some things only break so the light can get in.
