Rest on the Seventh Day
Running myself ragged for days on end I’m done trying to pretend That I’m fine when the tank’s bone dry Used to think it’d never run out this time Maybe I should sit and reflect a minute Lord knows I’ve pushed myself past the limit So tired… got nothing left to say Even God had to rest on the seventh day Phone still glowin’ in the dark tonight Chasin’ dreams underneath these tired eyes Tryin’ to carry every weight alone Forgettin’ even strong men need a home Dishes in the sink and songs in my head Thousand different roads and none of ‘em dead But somewhere between the work and the pain I forgot that rest ain’t weakness or shame So I’ll lay these burdens down for awhile Let tomorrow wait beyond a few miles If the good Lord Himself stepped away Maybe I can rest on the seventh day World keeps turning whether I run or not Some things heal slower than I thought And maybe peace ain’t so far away If even God had to rest on the seventh day
