When Paw Came Home with the Catch

V4.5

[Verse] Paw came home with a grin on his face, A bucket of fish from his favorite place. Maw took one look and wrinkled her nose, Said, "I ain't cleanin' those, and that's how it goes." [Chorus] "Oh, Maw," said Paw, "it's the least you could do, I’ve been out all day just to bring these to you." But Maw crossed her arms, with a fiery glare, Said, "You caught 'em, you clean 'em, it’s only fair." [Verse] The kids gathered 'round, their eyes open wide, As Paw and Maw bickered with no place to hide. Little Joe chimed in, "I think Paw's right!" But Susie declared, "Maw’s winnin' this fight." [Chorus] "Oh, Maw," said Paw, "it’s a family thing, We should all pitch in for the joy that it brings." But Maw shook her head, stood firm on her ground, Said, "I ain't touchin' those fish you just found." [Bridge] Now the kids grabbed the bucket and made a big mess, Scales in the kitchen, and Maw yelled in distress. Paw tried to step in, but he slipped on the floor, Now fish guts and laughter were spread wall to door. [Chorus] "Oh, Maw," said Paw, "let's not fight anymore, Let’s fry up these fish and forget the uproar." Maw cracked a smile, though her patience wore thin, Said, "You clean 'em up first, then we’ll all dig in."
