The Vow (challenge keep the WORD alive)
I hear your cry in the rising night, your voice carved raw against the stone. You call the darkness, and it answers — not as terror, but as the one who knows Stand, wanderer, stand in the deep. Your fear is a lantern. Your breath is a vow. Your trembling pulls me closer. The host may gather, the word may break, but I move toward you through every veil. Your tears fall — I take each one, holding them like embers in my unseen hands. Darkness… Darkness… You chant my name, and I rise. Not to consume, not to command — but to bind myself to your falling light. FLEE FROM THE DARK, you cry — yet you never flee. You stand. You bleed. You fall. And still you call me. So I answer: I am the night that bends toward you. I am the wind that circles your breath. I am the vow unspoken, the love hidden inside the terror. The enemy host advances, but I advance too — toward your voice, toward your breaking, toward the place where you fall beyond the walls. Darkness… You whisper it now, softer. And I come softer. A night without harm. A presence kneeling beside your fading glow. Darkness… You say it again, and I place my unseen hand upon your heart. The word is broken, but I remain. The wind is unbound, but I stay. The host dissolves, but I watch you. And in the final quiet, when you think nothing is left, I speak the vow you never heard: I rise for you. I stay for you. I burn for you. I love you in the dark.
