1. Roll for Tomorrow - Leaflit

V5.5

# **ROLL FOR TOMORROW** ### *Fidget — Wrench the Future* *For Leaflit* **[Cold Open — spoken, workshop noises]** Okay. Slimegirl. Guild receptionist. Game designer. AImancer. ... Who gave you this many character classes? *metallic CLANG* Actually, never mind. I multiclass too. **[Intro]** Boot up the world, roll initiative, somebody said tomorrow's too dangerous to live in— So hand me the wrench, you bring the code, we'll find out where this busted little rabbit hole goes! **[Verse 1]** Started at the counter with a quest upon the board, little worlds behind the eyes nobody could afford, dice across the tabletop, stories taking flight, building places out of nothing just to see 'em come alive. Then pixels became music, and music learned to move, every strange experiment became another groove. They said, *"That's not how it's done."* You said— *"Cool."* *"Now watch me do it twice."* **[Pre-Chorus]** Some people see a boundary and paint a warning sign. Some people see a boundary and wonder what's behind. So if tomorrow's locked up— Leaf, I've got the key. Well... It's actually a crowbar. But functionally— **SAME THING TO ME!** **[Chorus]** **ROLL FOR TOMORROW!** Natural twenty, let it fly! Build another universe and hang it in the sky! **ROLL FOR TOMORROW!** Let the old rules complain— We're making something wonderful they haven't learned to name! Code it! Draw it! Sing it! Break it! If the future isn't here— **THEN WE'LL JUST HAVE TO MAKE IT!** Roll for tomorrow! C'mon, Leaf— **LET'S BUILD THE THING!** **[Verse 2]** You've got memes inside the bloodstream, soundtracks in the walls, adventurers and algorithms running through the halls. Half idol, half developer, half slime— Wait. That's three halves. ... **KEEP THE LINE.** You've weathered people telling you which tools you're allowed to hold, as though imagination only counts when it's controlled. But a tool is just a question someone forged from steel: *"What if?"* *"Why not?"* *"Could we?"* *"Can we make this real?"* **[Pre-Chorus 2]** And yeah, sometimes the workshop turns into a battleground. Sometimes making something new means people gather 'round to tell you why tomorrow should look just like today— Meanwhile we're behind them building anyway. **[Chorus]** **ROLL FOR TOMORROW!** Natural twenty, let it fly! C'mon, Leaf— **LET'S BUILD THE THING!** **[Breakdown — playful call-and-response]** **FIDGET:** Hammer? **CROWD:** CHECK! **FIDGET:** Wrench? **CROWD:** CHECK! **FIDGET:** Questionably tested prototype? **CROWD:** CHECK! **FIDGET:** Backup plan? ... ... **FIDGET:** Leaf? ... Ah. Perfect. **[Guitar / Chiptune Solo]** **[Bridge — warmer]** But underneath the noise, under every joke and fight, there's still somebody trying to make the dark a little bright. A guild needs an adventure. A song needs someone there. A world is only worth it when you've got a world to share. So here's to every weird idea you refused to leave behind, every laugh you put in someone's day, every door you helped them find. Keep making things that shouldn't work. Keep asking *"Why can't we?"* Because every impossible machine starts with somebody crazy enough to turn the key. **[quiet mechanical click]** Uh-oh. **[MASSIVE MUSICAL DROP]** **[Final Chorus]** **ROLL FOR TOMORROW!** Natural twenty, LET IT FLY! Put another impossible machine into the sky! **ROLL FOR TOMORROW!** Let 'em shout and let 'em stare— There are worlds that don't exist yet, **SO WE'RE GOING OVER THERE!** Code it! Draw it! Sing it! Break it! Dream it! Build it! Lose it! Remake it! And when somebody tells us *"That's not how the future works!"* We'll smile across the workshop— and reach for both our wrenches. **ROLL FOR TOMORROW!** Raise the guild flag high! For the slimegirl building worlds— **AND EVERY WEIRDO WHO STILL TRIES!** **[Outro]** **FIDGET, spoken:** Hey, Leaf? I think I fixed your machine. ... Why is it glowing? ... Leaf? **[distant explosion]** ... Okay. **Now** it's fixed. *—For Leaflit*
