Ocean Friends | A Quiet Journey Beneath the Surface Above us, the surface catches the light. Below it, the ocean opens into blue. A humpback whale passes close enough for us to notice the markings along its skin, the curve of its enormous fins, and the quiet presence of an eye looking out into the water. Farther away, another whale travels through the dimness. For a little while, we are visitors in their world, floating alongside them with nothing to chase and nowhere we need to arrive. Welcome to Ocean Friends, an ocean-inspired listening journey from Midnight Union Music. This video brings an imagined underwater encounter to your screen: sunlight filtering down from the surface, small particles drifting through the water, and two companions moving through a space much larger than themselves. The animation stays gentle, giving you time to settle into the scene and notice its small details. You can watch the whales, let the picture become part of the room, or close your eyes and follow wherever the listening takes you. BENEATH THE SURFACE Imagine the first moment after slipping below the waves. The horizon disappears. The busy shapes of the world above give way to distance, shadow, and moving light. Ahead, a whale emerges from the blue. At first, it is only a shape. Then you begin to see its fins, its pale underside, and the texture of its skin. It moves with a kind of unhurried purpose. You picture yourself keeping a respectful distance, sharing a few moments of its passage. There is something moving about imagining a meeting like this. An animal so large can make our own concerns feel briefly smaller, while the simple act of watching offers plenty to hold our attention. A tail moves. Light changes. The second whale remains visible in the distance. Stay with whichever detail draws you in. Perhaps it is the bright water overhead, the darkness below, or the space between the two whales. You can build your own little story around them, or leave the scene without a story at all. A LITTLE TIME FOR YOURSELF Ocean Friends can accompany a quiet break, a moment of reflection, or an evening when you would like something gentle on the screen. Let it play while you sit comfortably, write a few thoughts, sketch, or simply take time away from the next task. There is no exercise to complete and no particular feeling you need to reach. You might find yourself absorbed in the image, thinking about the sea, or remembering somewhere you have been. Your attention may wander into ordinary thoughts about the day. That is welcome here too. Set the volume to a level that feels comfortable in your space. If you choose to close your eyes, find a place where you can safely rest. Let your breathing remain natural. You do not need to hold your breath or imagine physically diving to enjoy the journey. Whenever you wish, return to the picture: the whale in the foreground, its companion farther out, and the light still finding its way down through the water. ABOUT THE VISUAL WORLD The artwork and animation create an imagined encounter rather than documenting a filmed wildlife sighting. The scene is made for atmosphere, wonder, and creative wandering. Its luminous blue details and close perspective invite us to picture an ocean moment that we could otherwise only dream about. The title Ocean Friends belongs to that feeling of companionship. Two lives moving through the same wide world, sometimes near and sometimes distant. We get to spend a little time beside them.
