[Instrumental Intro] [Warm piano chords building into a driving stadium drum beat] [Verse 1] The same old faces at the same old bar Talking about making it big and far I’m a little too old for this sticky floor But I’m standing right here knocking at the door The glasses clink to a fading youth We’re telling tall tales to hide the truth Buying another round just to stop the clock [Pre-Chorus] And Monday morning is a terrible threat But tonight is a promise we haven't broken yet So turn the jukebox up and let the speakers shake [Chorus] We are wasted on the weekend, out of our minds! Leaving the sensible Monday behind Screaming the words to a song we forgot Giving this Saturday all that we’ve got! We might be bruised and we might be tired But right here, right now, we are totally wired! [Verse 2] My jacket smells like smoke and cheap cologne I should probably just call a taxi home But the bass is thumping right through my chest And I’m failing the grown-up sanity test Look at the kid in the corner booth He thinks he’s invincible, he thinks he's the truth I remember when I used to stand like that [Pre-Chorus] And Monday morning is a terrible threat But tonight is a promise we haven't broken yet So turn the jukebox up and let the speakers shake [Chorus] We are wasted on the weekend, out of our minds! Leaving the sensible Monday behind Screaming the words to a song we forgot Giving this Saturday all that we’ve got! We might be bruised and we might be tired But right here, right now, we are totally wired! [Bridge] [Music drops out, single spotlight guitar riff] Are we running from the future? Are we hiding from the past? We’re pouring out the bottle And praying it will last! [Drums crash back in heavy] Make it last! [Guitar Solo] [Soaring, emotional rock guitar solo] [Chorus] We are wasted on the weekend, out of our minds! Leaving the sensible Monday behind Screaming the words to a song we forgot Giving this Saturday all that we’ve got! [Outro] Wasted on the weekend. Let the speakers shake. All that we've got. [Fade to piano out]
