Death Nesting - While The Breath Still Stays

I’ve heard the kettle hum at dawn, while someone’s last breath carried on. It wasn’t silence, it wasn’t song, just the body knowing it could no longer belong. The photographs left by the bed, say more than sermons ever said. It ain’t the gold that people crave, it’s the warmth of touch they couldn’t save. Live while the breath still burns, before the soil takes its turn. The grave don’t bargain, the ground won’t bend, you’ve only got now before the end. I’ve seen the eyes still searching wide, even as the heartbeat died. It ain’t the work, it ain’t the wage, it’s the moments held that mark the page. Live while the breath still burns, the wheel of time still turns. There is no mercy to lend, you’ve only got now before the end. Every death has told me plain: we don’t get this day again. Every ending hums the same tune: live while you can, the silence comes soon. Live while the breath still stays, let the wild light burn through the haze. Don’t wait for the grave to remind you what’s true, one day I’ll die, and so will you.
