[Verse 1] Back in Derry, night got teeth Bad blood rising underneath Old fear crawls through the drain Hear that laugh in the summer rain He got a grin like a funeral slash White face, red thread, blackened ash Kids gone grown, but the wound still bleeds Same old ghost with the same old need [Pre-Chorus] You hear that call? It’s coming round Down in the dark Below the ground You said “not again” But it’s back, it’s back One red blink And the walls go black [Chorus] Red balloon, red balloon He pulls you down Red balloon, red balloon No way out now Run if you want He knows your name Red balloon, red balloon He plays that game [Verse 2] Mikes got the book and a basement prayer Bill still shakes when the room goes bare Beverly tastes that rust in the air Richie talks tough but he’s halfway scared Ben in the dust with a broken map Eddie on edge and his breath is trapped They split up fast, but the past won’t sleep ‘Cause every hallway got a mouth to keep [Pre-Chorus] You hear that laugh? It cuts right through Face in the flash Then the curse comes true You came this far Now pay that fee One by one He’s picking free [Chorus] Red balloon, red balloon He pulls you down Red balloon, red balloon No way out now Run if you want He knows your name Red balloon, red balloon He plays that game [Bridge] In the sewers, he wears your face Every broken fear in a tight dark space You feed on memory, you choke on shame Still that little voice says, “say my name” [Breakdown] Say it loud Make it shake Old bones split When the walls awake Say it loud Let it ring Derry don’t forget What the deep kids sing [Final Chorus] Red balloon, red balloon He pulls you down Red balloon, red balloon No way out now Run if you want He knows your name Red balloon, red balloon He plays that game Red balloon, red balloon Hear that cry Red balloon, red balloon You don’t get by Back in the dark Where the dead boys came Red balloon, red balloon He plays that game
