Evermore – Part II: The Dreamer’s Wake
To experience the full story, I invite you to begin with Part I. This story is a work of fiction. —————————————————— Evermore — Part II: The Dreamer’s Wake I woke in tears, the pillow stained with silence. Oh God—only a dream! Oh My—only a dream… The cry breaks me open, and grief pours like a river, I cannot stop. Your face returns, armor dimmed, hair undone, eyes—so gentle, so near. A thousand years, and yet I swear I felt your breath against my skin. I don’t believe in past lives, I never liked tragic tales. And yet I beg— let this dream be true. Where is he? Who is he now? My merciful God, why bring this dream to me? Stay, memory— don’t fade from me. Stay, sorrow— at least you prove he was mine. If only in a dream, if only for a breath, let me hold him once again. So this is my royal inheritance— an alarm clock, a late morning, no coffee before work. The knight is gone, but the traffic waits— how tragically modern. Still I clutch the fragments, the linden, the lake, the vow. If I let them go, who will remember us? Not the swans, not the stones, only me— half-dreamer, half-fool. Stay, memory— etch his voice into my day. Stay, sorrow— your fire keeps me alive. If only in a dream, if only for a breath, let me keep him— until the morning fades. My God… only a dream. And yet— what else is love, if not the dream we choose to keep? ————————————————— These lyrics are written and owned by Rachel’s Original (Rachel Liu).
