V6

The moon has veins beneath its skin. I watch them pulse against the glass. Three hundred kilos on my chest. Can't move, can't speak, can't even ask. The clock has swallowed both its hands. Something is scratching at the wall. I hear it stop to hear me breathing. Well, I won't breathe at all. No saint will come to lift the weight. No prayer will make the pressure cease! Something is picking at the heavens, And stars are falling out of reach. O hollow moon, O severed sphere, What ancient thing Is sleeping THERE??? I long to dissolve, To enter your wound, To bury my body Inside the moon. (Inside the moon...) The numbers crawl across my bed. Four little bastards, maybe more I count them back. I count again. Now there's five upon the floor. The ceiling opens like a mouth. Thin threads descend into the room. And hanging in their tangled ends, My mother whispers of my doom. (Mother!!) Life is the spider. (Life is the spider...) Life is the spider. Its legs reach where the angels dread. Its web is woven right overhead! Weave me into darkness! Bind me to the night! Every thread another horror, Every knot another life! O great spider! (Great spider...) What have you made? A man suspended In the web of his decay! Five white sheets become five shrouds. My teeth fall through the floor. I hear two ancient bones discussing What the hell they're waiting for. The worms refuse to eat your flesh. The dead refuse to sleeeeep.... Something has disturbed the earth, And something stirs beneath. I press my fingers to the floor. The wood is warm and thin. Something knocks beneath my hand. I feel it knocking back. (back, back, back, back.....) I wish to hang from vultures' beaks, A piece of flesh against the sun. But even death has turned away. Now where the hell do I run? (where the hell.....) O great spider! (Great spider...) Well, look at me! Your finest work, Your masterpiece! No more hunger! No more name! Let the universe Choke on what I became Life is the spider! (The spider... the spider...) (O great spider!) What have you made?
