The Mirror

[Intro] Door unlocks. Footsteps. Bathroom light clicks on. "...Just look." [Verse 1] Walked in the house but it didn't feel mine. Every room quiet like it swallowed time. Dropped my keys on the table by the door. Sounded like I'd heard that echo before. Straight to the mirror, stared at my face. Trying to find something out of place. Same eyes looking back, same skin, same scars. Still felt like I was looking through bars. The watch... the ring... the photograph. Every little clue came flooding back. Tried to fit the pieces side by side. But every answer found a place to hide. I whispered, "Who are you?" under my breath... The silence answered louder than I did. [Hook] Mirror, mirror, mirror Tell me what I can't see. Why this reflection feels incomplete. Every time I get close, it slips away. Like the truth don't want to show its face. [Verse 2] Opened the cabinet, searching for a sign. Found an envelope hidden out of sight. No return address, no date, no stamp. Just my name written in unfamiliar hands. Hands started shaking as I broke the seal. Didn't know if I wanted something real. One folded page, only one short line... "Stop looking for who... start asking why." Read it again like it'd somehow change. But every word stayed exactly the same. Phone started ringing from another room. This time I didn't hesitate to move. Picked it up before the second ring... Already knowing who it'd be. [Hook] Mirror, mirror, mirror Tell me what I can't see. Why this reflection feels incomplete. Every time I get close, it slips away. Like the truth don't want to show its face. [Outro] "...Hello?" He lowers the phone. Footsteps. Someone stops walking behind him. He turns. A woman stands a few metres away. She looks at him... Like she's trying to remember a face from a dream. He can't speak. Neither can she. The world around them fades into silence.
