Tried And Failed
I tried and I failed, and- I tried and I failed, and- I tried, then I failed... (but then I tried again.) Was always the worst, At everything I did, Man, almost like a curse, Man, all tries were mid, mid-way, hard to back down, Ah, Tempting, kept in, will to, give up, crept in, but every, fall got, shorter, I had all to lose, but I abused, my internal order, was still standin'- taller than most, each season, for some reason.. I tried and I failed, and- I tried and I failed, and- I tried, then I failed... -- But then I tried again. People wondering why, Perhaps hard to reach the sky, When you're that far down, man, Got those arms stretched far, To get near to snatch that crown, man, yeah, Need two ears to listen, and a patience, Didn't have that last part, but made it work, Good understanding and a clear conscience, Stop taking losses with tears, take em with a smirk, Quirky little underdog too stupid to give up, I hear ya, Cranky little dumbdumb finally had to grow up, I hear ya, Don't got time for your whining at what ya can't do, you- Ain't seen where I grew up, never saw the mistakes, yeah, Never saw me flounder around when they raised the stakes, I have no talent, only skills, and even then, got comfortable knowing I might never reach a ten, and- I tried and I failed, and- I tried and I failed, and- I tried, then I failed... -- But then I tried again. Self-taught, self-served, Selfishly, sailing and failing backwards and upwards, Ways I never wanted to go, but always the right way somehow, downstairs by going up, topsy turvy, yeah, Life only starts once you figure out, You're never in the front seat, you're tied up in back, And the driver is drunk. The best you can do, man, Only thing you can do, man, Is to never pass out. I tried and I failed, and- I tried and I failed, and- I tried, then I failed... -- But then I tried again.
