[Intro – sneaky, quiet fingerpicking that keeps darting into minor keys, crowd leaning in like they’re waiting for a knife in the dark] [Verse 1 – fast, smirking, pure tavern roast] He wears all black in the middle of summer, calls every shadow “brother” and every dagger “lover.” His backstory’s so tragic it makes bards weep on sight, But he’ll still pick your pocket while you’re crying for his plight. Says “I work alone” then follows us for three straight days, Complains the whole time that the sunlight hurts his “aesthetic phase.” [Pre-chorus – sarcastic chuckle, lute does a mocking little trill] Too cool for healing potions, too cool for the light, Too cool to admit he’s scared of the dark at night. [Chorus – big, rowdy, half the tavern shouting along] He’s so edgy he can cut you! So edgy he can cut you! One wrong look and that brooding stare will absolutely gut you! He’s so edgy he can cut you! So edgy he can cut you! His cloak has more layers than his personality, it’s true! [Verse 2 – slower, suddenly quieter, almost tragic] But late at night when the fire’s low and the party’s finally sleeping, He sits alone and sharpens blades while the memories come creeping. Lost a sister to the guild, a brother to the noose, Carries every name carved deep so none of them are loose. He laughs it off with “edgy” jokes and a smirk that cuts like glass, But the shadows in his eyes are older than the ones he casts. [Pre-chorus – voice drops, almost gentle] He never asks for thanks, never asks to stay, Just vanishes when the sun comes up and slips back in the grey. [Bridge – tempo shifts, voice rises with real weight and power] Then the dragon wakes and the ceiling starts to fall, The fighter’s pinned, the wizard’s spells are gone. The rogue who swore he’d never care slips through the crumbling stone, Cuts the chains with shaking hands and carries the fighter home. One blade in the dark, one silent deadly sprint, Turns the tide when every hero’s at their limit. [Final Chorus – huge, proud, full of affection and respect] He’s so edgy he can cut you! So edgy he can cut you! But when the darkness closes in, that edge will run right through you! He’s so edgy he can cut you! So edgy he can cut you! The brooding, sarcastic, pain-in-the-arse who somehow always pulls us through! He steals the gold, he steals the show, he steals our hearts despite the gloom, The rogue we love to mock is the shadow in the room— So raise your cups high for the one who walks alone, The edgy little bastard… who always brings us home. [Outro – lute fades into a single soft, lonely note that somehow feels warm] To the edgy one… (The tavern is quiet for half a breath, then erupts in cheers, whistles, and one very loud “I’m not crying, you’re crying!” from the back corner where the rogue is pretending to sharpen a dagger that doesn’t need sharpening.)
