Verse 1 I thought I could just let it go in a day, say a prayer, walk off, be okay, like it all would fade if I said the right phrase, but it didn’t work like that for me. It stayed in my chest, it sat in my mind, showed up in my thoughts at the worst times, and I kept tellin’ myself I should be fine, but I knew deep down I wasn’t. I didn’t wanna admit it was still there, didn’t wanna say I still cared, didn’t wanna face that I still felt that tension every time it came up. So I tried to bury it, tried to ignore it, tried to act like it didn’t have a hold on me, but the more I pushed it under the surface, the more it came back stronger. And I didn’t understand why it lingered, why the memory still had a trigger, why I couldn’t just snap my fingers and be free from it instantly. I felt like I was doin’ somethin’ wrong, like I should’ve been over it all along, like if I really trusted God, it’d be gone, but that wasn’t the truth. It wasn’t about me rushin’ the process, it wasn’t about pretendin’ I lost it, it was about walkin’ through it with honesty and lettin’ God deal with it slowly. Hook It didn’t leave overnight, but I kept walkin’, didn’t feel it right away, but I kept trustin’, step by step, God was breakin’ somethin’, it didn’t leave overnight—but He was workin’. Through God the Father, I learned to release, through Jesus my Savior, I found my peace, through the Spirit that moved, I didn’t freeze, it didn’t leave overnight—but He freed me. Verse 2 There were days it felt like I took a step back, like I thought I was good, then it all came back, like I hit the same wall I already passed, and it messed with my head a little. I’d question if I really moved at all, if I really let go, if I really stood tall, or if I was just hidin’ it behind a wall, tryin’ not to deal with it fully. But I started to see it a different way, not as failure, not as delay, but as layers God was peelin’ away that I couldn’t see at first. Every time it came back up again, it wasn’t to trap me back within, it was bringin’ it up so it could end, so I could finally release it. Through Jesus Christ, I saw what it meant, to forgive even when it felt intense, not based on emotion, not based on sense, but based on truth I stand on. That changed how I approached the pain, I didn’t run from it, I didn’t stay the same, I let God step in and rearrange what I couldn’t fix myself. Through the Spirit I felt that guidance slow, not rushin’ me, not pushin’ me to go faster than I could actually grow, He walked me through each step. And God the Father, You gave me time, You didn’t pressure me to cross that line before I was ready deep inside, You stayed patient with me.
