Welcome to the Boiler Start up!

[Intro] [Pre-Verse] Welcome to the Boiler Start up! step by step, If you got a problem! You can call your Union Rep. Now listen close if you want to run the CUP... The Operator Turnover is the first one up! [Verse] Step One! Check the log book for the previous shift's deets, Talk to the plant operator, get up to speed, complete. Next, a visual inspection around your boilers tight, Makin' sure the man-holes and hand-holes are fastened and tight, Nothing leaking, all secure, no drips in sight. Confirm all your blow-down valves are closed, alright. [Chorus] Welcome to the Boiler Start up! step by step, If you got a problem! You can call your Union Rep. Now listen close if you want to run the CUP... The Feedwater System is the next one up! [Verse] Next, check your D-A tank and ensure there's enough water before that boiler fill, Then, You'll need to line up that feedwater system still By opening the suction and discharge valves on your feedwater pumps, you already know the drill! Now you're clear to open your boilers vent, Let's get rid of those non-condensable gases and everything they represent! Open your superheater vent to prevent overheating of the tubes, no doubt. Most don't have superheat, but it's still required to know, what's that about! (Nice) Next up, You'll want to open the feedwater valve, in the bypass mode, while you fill the boiler to one-third of the sight glass view! .That's Roughly 2 or 3 inches below the N-O-W-L, true. You'll accomplish this by switching the feedwater pump to hand operation mode, Once level hits right, turn off the pumps, unload. [Chorus] Welcome to the Boiler Start up! step by step, If you got a problem! You can call your Union Rep. Now listen close if you want to run the CUP... The Fuel System and Purge Cycle are the next ones up! [Verse] Line up the fuel system, keep this in mind, Notice the yellow piping, it's one of a kind. Open main gas cock and check the gauge... 5 to 6 p-s-i-g, it's all the rage. At the boiler control panel, turn the burner on, kicking off the pre-purge cycle, yeah, combustibles gone It takes around 45 to 60 seconds, to fully clear the air. The Forced draft fan starts, while the draft damper opens all the way wide, Three to Five air changes in firebox, purges all the combustible gases inside. Before igniting pilot flame, to be safe... that's the rule, Once the purging cycle is done, the forced draft damper goes to minimum airflow, cool. [Chorus] Welcome to the Boiler Start up! step by step, If you got a problem! You can call your Union Rep. Now listen close if you want to run the CUP... The Combustion System the next one up! [Verse] Imagine this... a High-voltage spark! 10,000 volts from a step-up transformer, no walk in the park. Igniting the pilot flame in a fit of rage! ...A safety device, called the Fire eye, detects the flame, now out of it's cage! Now with permission, The main gas valve opens up, Main combustion starts and the pilot flame shuts off, yup. Now, that's your que to set your burner to hand... we want it slow. Setting that dial to minimum with a fire rate low, About 10 percent, with a slow and steady glow. Slowly and steady wins the race, Warming the up the boiler from there, no rush, keep the pace. [Chorus] Welcome to the Boiler Start up! step by step, If you got a problem! You can call your Union Rep. Now listen close if you want to run the CUP... Take a quick moment to scratch your balls, It's time to build some pressure and bring that boiler up! [Bridge] Once you're done scratching your balls and dreaming of men, It's time to saddle up, cuz here we go again! This is the Last Chapter and then you are free to go! We are almost there, you already know! Now that you're done picking your nose... Wash your fucking hands and let's see where this goes! [Verse] Watch for your pressure to hit around 15 to 25 p-s-i-g, or steady steam flow from the vent line you can see. Now you can close the boiler vent, and seal it tight, Wait for your boiler pressure to reach 75 percent of the header pressure, it's time to take flight. Open up the automatic non-return valve and let it through, Open up the condensate drain and leave it cracked open too. This will drain the condensate built up between main steam stop valve and the header, ain't nothin' better! Lastly, when your drum pressure comes within 2 to 3 p-s-i-g of the header, near. It's time to open the boiler steam stop, don't be a queer, Increase your fire rate to establish steam flow, you've got the brains! Now's a good time to close your super heater vents and close up all the drains! [Final chorus] Switch the boiler master control to automatic and done, Startup complete, boiler runnin' like the sun. Put your aviators on and walk away. Hop in the convertible; top down; It's time to play! [Final chorus] Switch the boiler master control to automatic and done, Startup complete, boiler runnin' like the sun. Put your aviators on and walk away. Hop in the convertible; top down; It's time to play! [Outro]
