"DICK" Buck 3 - September Artist Showcase
Thanks to @airockstar72 for the opportunity to remix instrumental. [Intro] (spoken, dry, like he's sitting down across a desk) Bo: "Name's Bo. I need you to find my truck. And my dog. .... But, not necessarily in that order." [Verse 1] She grabbed my keys, my hat, walked out, and hopped in my ride Didn't know Buck was sleepin' in the back, windows open wide Said I'd never see her face again Well, that's fine by me, but Buck's my best friend She can keep the truck, keep the ring, keep the house But that dog don't know how to fend for himself in the south That's why I'm here, Dick, sittin' in your chair I need you to find my pooch, I don't care 'bout her [Chorus] Find my Buck and find him quick She can keep it all, I just want my dog back, Dick Check the ditches, check the diners, check the county line Bring him home and I'll forget I ever called her mine [Verse 2] Dick found the truck two counties down Nose in a ditch outside of town Radiator steamin', driver's door hung wide No sign of the woman, no sign of Buck inside Just a letter sittin' on the seat Water-stained and torn at the crease Bo unfolded it with shaking hands Hoped to God it'd explain the woman's plan [Chorus] Find my Buck and find him quick She can keep it all, I just want my dog back, Dick Check the ditches, check the diners, check the county line Bring him home and I'll forget I ever called her mine [Bridge] (softer, shift to her perspective, more sincere) She heard him bark somewhere past Nashville Pulled over shakin', hand still on the wheel Never meant to steal a man's best friend Just meant to leave, not knowing how bad it'd feel So she drove him back โ not to Bo, but close enough Left him on his mama's porch with a note and his hat "He never did a thing to deserve any of this mess Y'all take care of him โ tell Bo I wish him the best" [Final Chorus] (full band, a little triumphant, relief instead of desperation) Found my Buck, and he's alright Truck's totaled but the dog turned out just fine She's gone for good, and I'm okay with that Long as I got my dog and my daddy's old hat [Outro] (spoken, dry, callback to the pun) Bo: "Thanks, Dick." Dick: "Anytime. Try not to fall in love with anyone else who drives stick."
