Cricket's Biggest Trick

V5

Lyrics by DragonHug --------- Beetles build and paint the big billboard ''Cricket's Biggest Trick'' Critters and creatures gather and stare ''Wow! Cricket's biggest trick! I wonder what it will be?'' a small mouse squeaks ''I once saw Cricket turn brick to bread!'' a brown hare shares ''Let's find his big blue tent'' squeaks the mouse ''His tiny red tent, you mean?'' a weasel adds ''Isn't Cricket's tent green?'' the brown hare asks ''It is both red, blue and green because there is not one tent but three!'' a beaver reveals A dragon says the tent is tall A fox says the tent is small Someone says they went in one day but came out the day before! Another says they found the tent and went inside but in it was another tent that led outside! ''There it is!'' the mouse squeaks and points at a yellow tent ''Cricket the Illusionist!'' Critters and creatures shuffle and scurry --- Two green beetles stay behind One is big and one is little They hold hands—two at a time The little one has a red balloon Little beetle looks up and tugs Big beetle looks down Tug-tug Big beetle looks to the tent And they begin walking --- [First Trick] The lighting dims inside the tent The chattering lowers to murmuring Behind the rising red curtain a brightly feathered creature stands ''Three tricks you will see Or so it seems With Cricket The Illusionist, nothing you see is what you believe it to be One becomes none None becomes one Near becomes far Far becomes near Big becomes tiny Dull becomes shiny He disappears and then reappears!'' Piff! A tiny puff of smoke The crowd gasps The smoke settles A tiny cricket bows Tiny black hat in hand He tosses the tiny hat up! Up up it goes Down down it comes, much bigger than before! The giant hat lands on him A tiny door draws itself on the hat It opens and Cricket The Illusionist steps out! --- [Second Trick] Cricket chirps The feathery creature nods ''Cricket needs a volunteer!'' Paws and claws shoot up Cricket chirps again ''Cricket chose you back there!'' The spotlights land far back on a very large, very happy dragon he lumbers down onto the stage The wood creaks The dragon sits down with a big thud Cricket bounces up Spotlights shine on the dragon His shadow covers half the stage Cricket adjusts his hat and flicks his stick at the shade! The tent goes dark The light slowly returns Every shadow disappears except for one The crowd points and murmurs The dragon looks down He picks up his shadow And puts it on! A big dark coat! How's and wow's fill the crowd! Cricket flicks! The tent goes black! The light slowly returns The coat is gone and the dragon's shadow is back! Cricket The Illusionist bows Squeaks and roars and applause! The curtain falls --- The feathery announcer steps out ''For Cricket's final and biggest trick, he requires quiet... and solitude Step outside, stretch your wings or tails And when you come back... magic awaits'' --- The crowd gathers outside ''How did he do that?'' the mouse squeaks ''Yes the hat was tiny, then huge!'' the brown hare agrees ''No how did the shadow become a coat?'' the mouse squeaks ''Maybe dragons have special shadows?'' the hare asks ''Ahem, clearly some kind of contraption was involved'' the beaver asserts ''I think it was real magic'' a butterfly peeps --- The two green beetles are at a stand The stand has Cricket sticks and hats Little beetle points Big beetle takes a hat and a stick and places them in the small reaching hands Little beetle with hat and stick runs about and stops at a flower And waves the stick at it! Nothing happens Big beetle takes little beetle's hand and they walk to the tent entrance --- [Final Trick] The tent is still Cricket's biggest trick waits inside Critters and creatures chatter The doors open! Inside, there are no seats A big red curtain blocks the way ''Where is the show?'' someone asks The crowd shuffles inside It is dim The red curtain rises It turns bright! The audience is on the stage! And Cricket chirps from the seats and watches! Everyone looks around The green little beetle runs to the front And waves the stick in the air! Poof! Colors and light appear! Everyone goes quiet and looks Little beetle jumps up and down and waves again More colors and light appear! The mouse clap claps Bubbles pop from his paws! The hare hop hop hops Each hop makes music! The beaver tap tap taps his tail The wood turns to grass! More creatures join Clap-clap-clap Hop-hop-hop Tap-tap-tap Light and colors fill the stage! Cricket stands and claps!
