She remembers leading her inquisitorial cohort into a sanctuary to carry out the church's grim order. Before the execution of the child begins, the Silent Bell tolls a suffocating, leaden chime. When Valeska tears the monstrous soul from the child, her soldiers try to aid her, but they lack the strength; their bodies shatter from within, falling like autumn leaves. Valeska masters the soul alone in triumph. Waking up in the present snow, the terrifying realization strikes her: the essence awakens, its wrath burns through her skin, and absolute horror takes hold. -------------Lyrics-------------- [Intro] [A heavy, agonizingly slow bronze bell tolls in the distance—the Silent Bell, its sound swallowed immediately by a thick, suffocating wall of low organ drones and dark ambient feedback] [Spoken-word with a harsh, chilling, authoritative and arrogant voice] The Silent Bell tolls. No prayers, no plea. We marched without a question, blind and bound. I was the absolute blade of the divine... ...and mercy was a crime. [Verse 1: A crushing, majestic doom-metal wall of sound kicks in with heavy marching drums and distorted pipe organs, driven by aggressive female vocals] A locked door in the snow, a shivering nest, Where terror supposedly poisoned the west! The seal of the high priests, written in blood, To cleanse the corruption and drown out the flood! My iron cohort held back behind me, their morals wearing thin, Afraid to strike the roots where shadows spin. They saw a mother holding tight, a father pale and gray, And a small, glowing child tucked safely away! "It’s just a family," they stammered in the dark, Refusing to ignite the cleansing spark! I did not blink. I did not spare a glance— When I have command, there was no second chance! [Chorus: The heavy metal wall explodes with massive war drums and raw, pained female vocals—strictly no choir] WE DRENCHED THE FLOOR IN BLOOD AND SMASHED THE CRADLE DOWN! TO SAVE THE GLORY OF THE RADIANT CROWN! THEY FELL LIKE AUTUMN LEAVES IN COLD DECAY, WHILE I TOOK UP THE BURDEN OF THE PREY! A soul too vast to cage, a wrath so deep— A monstrous terror forced into my keep! [Verse 2: Fast, frantic double-bass drums, heavy sludge riffs, and desperate, strained vocals] My blade was swift, my judgment absolute, No room for compassion, no room for dispute! The mother fell, the father broke upon the stone, While I approached the child, cold-hearted and alone! I forced the seal, I broke the fragile chest, To pull the raging essence from its nest! And as the ancient fury tore into my frame, My brothers fell around me, forgotten and unnamed! They dropped like autumn leaves of brown and red, Their empty shells upon the marble dead! Their spirits shattered, melted in the blinding flood, As I baptized my soul in innocent blood! I stood triumphant on the broken floor, Believing I had locked perdition's door! [Bridge: The heavy metal instruments drop out instantly, leaving only a chilling, solitary organ drone over a slow, marching heartbeat drum] [Spoken-word, dripping with cold, arrogant certainty] Look at them fall. Weak soldiers, breaking in the cold. They lacked the iron for the truths we told. I took the weight. I bore the heavy chain. I thought I cleansed the realm of every stain. I was the shield of Kelemvor. The unyielding hand. ...and so I command. [Chorus: The heavy dark metal roars back with maximum militant intensity and raw, pained female vocals—strictly no choir] WE DRENCHED THE FLOOR IN BLOOD AND SMASHED THE CRADLE DOWN! [Outro: The massive instruments abruptly cut off and a single, heavy, hammering heartbeat] [Valeska's voice, gasping violently, raw and trembling as she snaps back to life in the present snow] ...no. ...it awakens. ...its wrath is burning through my skin. ...we were wrong. ...Kelemvor... what have we done? [Fade out]
