DREAM FUNK DELIRIUM

[Intro] [Muted bass harmonics, Rhodes chords, strange percussion clicks] (Wait...) (What was that?) (Ooooh... it's moving...) The ceiling starts to bend, The room begins to slide, The furniture is floating, But I don't wanna hide. (Drift!) (Shake!) (What's happening?) A little purple shadow Crawls across the wall, Then the bass starts talking Like it's calling us all. [Verse 1: Male Lead] Close my eyes, The room goes strange, Moonlight dancing Out of range. Pillow floating, Floor turns blue, Something funky Pulls me through. (HEY!) (Keep it moving!) My old clock Starts to grin, Little hands Start spinning again. Tick-tock? No, no, no— That's a groove Under the floor! [Female Response] I feel it... I hear it... Something underneath... [Male Lead] Don't wake me up, Don't break the spell, There's a funky little secret And it's ringing like a bell. [Pre-Chorus] Slow down— Then rise! The whole room Changes size. One little note, Then another one bends, The dream starts dancing Where the hallway ends. (Whoa!) (Go on!) [Chorus] DREAM FUNK DELIRIUM! Take me where the strange lights glow! DREAM FUNK DELIRIUM! Heavy rhythm down below! Let it roll, Let it turn, Let the rubber bassline burn! DREAM FUNK DELIRIUM! I don't wanna wake up— NO! [Female Chorus] Ooooh, take me there... Take me there... [Male Ad-libs] Keep it funky! Keep it strange! Shake that ceiling! Move that frame! [Verse 2: Male Lead] My chair is on the ceiling, My shoes are on the bed, The radio is laughing, There's a rhythm in my head. (HA!) (You see that?) A lamp begins to wobble, A picture starts to sway, The coffee cup is floating Like it owns the place today. (FLOAT!) (DON'T DROP IT!) The window opens sideways, The curtains start to swing, A tiny purple trumpet Makes the bedroom sing. [Female Response] Sing it... Sing it... Let the room breathe... [Male Lead] I reach for the doorway, But the doorway moves away. [Female] Maybe that's the point... [Male] Maybe that's the game... [Chorus] DREAM FUNK DELIRIUM! Take me where the strange lights glow! DREAM FUNK DELIRIUM! Heavy rhythm down below! Let it roll, Let it turn, Let the rubber bassline burn! DREAM FUNK DELIRIUM! I don't wanna wake up— NO! [Instrumental Break] [Heavy Minimoog bass, ARP Odyssey stabs, Rhodes, short sax phrases] (Boom...) (Shake...) (Wait...) (Again!) [Bridge 1: Spoken-Sung] [Male] Is this a dream? [Female] Maybe. [Male] Is this my room? [Female] Not anymore. [Male] Then where are we? [Female] Inside the groove. [Male] Inside the groove? [Female] Inside the groove. [Both] INSIDE THE GROOVE! [Sudden melodic female chorus] Ooooh— The walls are opening, The colors are turning, The night is unfolding And something is burning. Ooooh— The ceiling is rising, The rhythm is climbing, The whole little bedroom Is slowly rewinding. [Male Ad-libs] Wait! Wait! Wait! Now hit it! [Heavy groove returns] [Verse 3: Male Lead] Now the mattress is a spaceship, The blanket is a sail, The dresser is a monster With a funky little tail. (HA!) (What?) The mirror shows a stranger With my face but different eyes, He points toward the ceiling And starts to harmonize. [Female] Don't look back... [Male] Why? [Female] Because the floor is moving. [Male] Oh! [Both] LET IT MOVE! [Bridge 2: Male Rap / Female Responses] [Male Rap] I step through the room And the room steps back, Bass in the wall With a heavy attack. No map, No clock, No ordinary track, Just a funky little planet With a bedroom on its back. [Female] Go! [Male Rap] Left wall— Right wall— Everything bends! [Female] Bend it! [Male Rap] Round and round Where the hallway ends! [Female] Turn it! [Male Rap] One more step And the ceiling goes black— [Female] BLACK! [Male Rap] Then the bass comes back— [Both] BOOM! [Instrumental Breakdown] [Drums drop briefly. Minimoog bass and Rhodes remain. Strange flute answers sax.] (Ooooh...) (Mmm...) (Shake-shake!) (Keep it funky!) [Male] I can hear the floor... [Female] I can feel the sky... [Male] I can taste the rhythm... [Female] Don't ask why. [Both] Just ride it! [Final Chorus] DREAM FUNK DELIRIUM! Take me where the strange lights glow! DREAM FUNK DELIRIUM! Heavy rhythm down below! Let it roll, Let it turn, Let the rubber bassline burn! DREAM FUNK DELIRIUM! I don't wanna wake up— [Female] Don't wake up... [Male] DON'T WAKE ME! [Both] DREAM FUNK DELIRIUM! [Outro Vamp] [Heavy bass vamp, Rhodes, percussion, vocal fragments] Float? No. Sleep? No. Dream? Maybe. Funk? YES! (Shake!) (Bend!) (Drift!) (BOOM!) DREAM FUNK... DE-LI-RI-UM... [Extended instrumental vamp fading]
