06. Ballads of the Heart (Commentary)
This song ends our run of a couple more rock-oriented tracks in a very sudden way. Along with "April," I think this is the only other v4 song on here, part of that same run of experimenting I was doing. I tried to really get it to do different things throughout, but all of it feeling like a surreal scene with an old record player skipping. You have this charming old-timey duet that gives way to this sunny hippie vibe in the middle, then it skips again and brings in some horns before going back into the duet and warping the vocals down at the end, kind of creepy in a fun way. ReMi gave me a great foundation for the lyrics and I tweaked it til it was kind of like a ghost story on top of a love story. I really enjoy the final state of this one.
