Verse 1 Behold, a sign is giv-en us, five winters yet to run; then comes the Son of God to save all trusting in His name. A night when darkness shall not fall, as though it still were day— two days and yet one holy light will show the promised way. Verse 2 A new star rises, bright and strange, such light we’ve never known; great wonders blaze in heaven’s arch to call our hearts to kneel. Amazed, we fall, then rise in faith, and sing His holy birth— for God has come to dwell with us and ransom all the earth. Verse 3 Whoe’er believes the Son of God receives enduring life; His name we take upon our souls and turn from fear and strife. So let the light that knew no night be kindled in our hearts, till we, made new in Jesus Christ, are light to every part. Verse 4 Though five long years seemed far to some, His promise still is sure; the signs He gave will lead us on to Bethlehem once more. We watch, we wait, we worship Him whose light the darkness ends, until the hour we stand in awe and rise as trusting friends.
