SNICKER-SNACK [Intro – tape hiss, warped synth] ’Twas brillig. Something moved behind the sound. [Verse 1] Tulgey wood and sulfur light, black limbs wired across the sky. The air tastes like a bitten tongue. Something breathing past the leaves stops when I stop. They said— Beware the jaws. Beware the claws. Beware what waits and never calls. I took the blade. I went alone. [Pre-Chorus] One step. Two steps. Nothing there. Three— the whole wood holds its breath. [Chorus] Jabberwock— come out, come out. I've heard enough about you now. Eyes like fire. Teeth like traps. Come a little closer— SNICKER-SNACK. [Post-Chorus – gang shouts / glitch cuts] SNICKER— SNICKER— SNACK. SNICKER— SN— [GLITCH] [Verse 2] Underneath the Tumtum tree the insects quit before the birds. Then the birds. Then everything. No wind. Just blood working in my ears. Something whiffled through the green— too fast— then stopped. There you— Wait. Not as large as what they said. Not even close. [Pre-Chorus] One step. Two— don't move. Three steps— flesh is smaller than the shadow people give it. [Chorus] Jabberwock— come out, come out. I've heard enough about you now. Eyes like fire. Teeth like traps. Come a little closer— SNICKER-SNACK. [Instrumental Break – backwards guitars / tape splice] Beware— Beware— Be— Be— B— [HARD CUT] [Half-Time Collapse] Funny thing about a monster— you grow it in the dark. Give it teeth before you've seen it. Give it hunger. Give it heart. Pass the warning mouth to mouth. Parent. Child. House to house. Soon nobody remembers who saw what. Only— don't go there. Don't touch that. Don't ask why. Jaws. Claws. Eyes of flame. Say it long enough— fear learns its name. [Build] So come on. Come on. Come— [drums accelerate] ON. [Final Chorus] JABBERWOCK— COME OUT, COME OUT. I'VE HEARD YOUR NAME MY WHOLE LIFE NOW. EYES LIKE FIRE. TEETH LIKE TRAPS. ONE GOOD SWING— SNICKER-SNACK. [Gang Shouts] SNICKER! SNACK! SNICKER! SNACK! [everything cuts] [Outro – tape hiss] ’Twas brillig. The woods went still. I waited for the feeling to leave. It didn't.
