Sinful Heat [Performance Note: 60 BPM static pulse. Continuous low Uilleann pipe D-drone fused with a deep Tuvan sub-bass overtone. High, eerie waterphone scrapes bend across the left and right channels. A tenor saxophone breathes low, rasping improvisations in the sub-register.] [Intro: Two minutes of static drone, subterranean rumble, and scraping waterphone before the vocal enters—unaccompanied, slow, heavy, chant-like] [Vocal - Spoken/Sung with deep, meditative resonance] The frost is a liar. Six feet down, the earth is sweating lard. The bog doesn’t freeze; it steams like a slaughtered calf. Forgive the turf… it remembers the sun too intimately. [Tenor Saxophone plays a slow, chromatic downward bend, gravelly and breathy] A static pulse under the ribcage. One. Two. The mercury stays in the soil’s throat. A quiet, heavy grease upon the saint’s spine… It isn't summer. It is the old heat. The ugly, unholy simmer. [Verse 1] There is a kiln beneath the well. The water comes up tasting of rusted pennies and boiled hair. I pressed my forehead to the wet granite— it hissed against my skin. Sinful heat. Not the light of God, but the sweat of the core. A black oven baking stars into slag. [Waterphone shrieks softly; Uilleann pipe drone swells in pitch, vibrating against the Tuvan throat overtone] The salmon in the river are swimming in warm tea. They float on their sides, blind and supple. Absurdly pink. Absurdly cooked before the net even drops. [Saxophone Solo - Freeform, dark, echoing like a horn blown down an abandoned mine shaft] [Chorus / Chant - Meditative, Melancholic] O, the bog is hot. The ash is hot. The marrow in the femur is melting into oil. We sit in the dark and we take off our skin, but the air is still wearing a coat of wool. Cosmic fever… Subterranean shame… The sun fell down a pit five thousand years ago and it never learned how to cool down. [Verse 2] I saw a priest standing in the clover, his vestments soaked through with sulfur grease. He held a silver chalice, but the wine was already boiling over the lip. "Drink," he whispered. His tongue was a dry cinder. "Drink the bathwater of the damned." [Saxophone produces an overtone multiphonic—tense, dissonant, screeching softly against the quiet drone] It’s too warm to pray. It’s too thick to breathe. The air hangs like wet velvet in a dead man’s closet. A sacred crime— to burn without a flame, to rot in an oven, to bless the fever while the world turns to wax. [Outro] [Vocal turns into a low, rhythmic murmur, echoing the Tuvan overtone] Slow heat… Static heat… The dirt is glowing red beneath our heels… [Waterphone scrape fades to the far right channel] Put your ear to the peat. Listen to it sizzle. [Saxophone breathes a final, low Bb note, cracking into airflow] Forgive the mud. It was born in the fire. It dies in the steam. [The drone slowly dissolves into pure low-frequency sub-bass, lingering for 30 seconds before cut] [END]
