The Light Under The Door

STUDIO

━━━━━━━━━T H E L I G H T U N D E R T H E D O O R━━━━━━━━━━ I wanted to build around an early memory that felt simple but stayed with me. Being half awake in a dark room, hearing rain outside, distant sounds through the house, and seeing that warm light under the door. I do not remember every detail, but I remember the feeling of being small, safe, and comforted by something as simple as light coming from the next room. I tried to turn that memory into a proper song, blending house, future bass, alt R&B, electronic pop rock emotion with added vocal chops to make it feel nostalgic but still polished and grown up. Made in Suno Studio: Studio tip: A vocal chop should answer the hook, not compete with it. If the listener hears two songs at once, mute the chop. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Light under the door light under the I was little, I was listening to the house breathe slow Carpet lines on my cheek half awake by the wall TV talking through the floor like the grown ups knew it all Kettle clicked in the kitchen rain tapped Morse on the glass I never knew what they were saying I just knew somebody laughed Now I count the cracks in ceilings when the night gets loud again I go looking for that feeling in a room I can’t get back Maybe comfort has a color maybe memory has a sound all I know is when I break down I still see the light under the door when I don’t feel safe anymore I don’t remember every word but I remember what it was for If the world gets too heavy and my chest can’t hold it all I go back to that hallway glow and I’m small, I’m small Light under the door safe anymore I remember what it was for Light-light under door-door-door safe anymore I remember Now the rent’s due Monday phone bright in my hand same old fear, new ceiling same kid trying to stand I keep coffee in the cupboard like a ritual, like proof that if the room keeps running I can make it through I don’t need the whole story I don’t need the names just the warmth beneath the doorway telling me I’m still okay Maybe comfort has a color maybe memory has a sound all I know is when I break down I still see the light under the door when I don’t feel safe anymore I don’t remember every word but I remember what it was for If the world gets too heavy and my chest can’t hold it all I go back to that hallway glow and I’m small, I’m small Light under the door safe anymore I remember what it was for Light-light under door-door-door safe anymore I remember I used to think home was a place with a number on the key now it lives in little flashes that come back when I can’t sleep And I don’t know who I was then but I know what I was needing one thin line of gold to give the dark a meaning I still see the light under the door when I don’t feel safe anymore I don’t remember every word but I remember what it was for Somebody in the next room left a little mercy on and I’ve been chasing that feeling every time the lights go off Light under the door safe anymore I remember what it was for Light-light under door-door-door safe anymore I remember Light under the door I remember light under the door safe anymore ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
