Rug Pulled Under
I’m pulled beneath the surface now Every heartbeat drags me down Grasping at the walls I’ve made But nothing holds, it starts to fade The smoke curls heavy through my mind Colors bleed, reality unwinds Every line I chase cuts deeper still I swallow pain, but it drinks my will I feel the floor shift under me Hands grasp for life I cannot see The rug’s pulled out and I descend No voice to call, no hand to lend Shadows twist and laugh at my skin I taste the burn where the dark begins Every pill a promise I betray Every sip washes my soul away Caught in currents I can’t fight Pulled deeper in the fading light Rug pulled under, can’t break free Everything is closing in on me Hands reach out, nothing to hold Dragged down slowly, bitter and cold I hear my heartbeat pound in reverse My reflection screaming, soaked in curse Needle sparks and glassy veins I dance in circles of my own chains Falling through nights that never end Each fix a ghost that won’t defend I claw the walls, but they dissolve No one to save, no one to solve Lost beneath this sinking tide I used to fight, now I collide Every high a heavier fall I’m buried under my own call Rug pulled under, can’t break free Everything is closing in on me Hands reach out, nothing to hold Dragged down slowly, bitter and cold I feel the current grip my spine Every fix a steepening decline Whispers tell me I’m already gone The night devours, the day withdrawn Rug pulled under, never seen the ground Floating in a silence without sound The spiral ends where it began No light remains to save this man
