[Intro] [Verse 1] He crossed the avenue alone Hair unkempt, and heart unknown Past shuttered shops and empty screens He followed something he had seen A glow behind the broken stone A song that called him to the unknown He stopped when your footsteps came near From the other side, same fear [Pre-Chorus] You took my hand Squeezed it so tight As we stood there In the quiet of the night Then the doors swung wide And the whole place shined [Chorus] Into the unknown Into the unknown We were lost, then home Into the unknown Into the unknown Saint Boogie, lead us on (lead us on) [Verse 2] Inside was velvet, gold, and flame A disco throne and holy names In the undercroft there was a stage A concert hall with large stained glass Where every lonely note could last The priest in purple raised his hands And made the silence start to dance He preached with grit and holy grace A grin of thunder on his face [Pre-Chorus] He said, “What we need In this economy Is a rock n roll homily” We didn't know we'd need it But now we both can see it [Chorus] Into the unknown Into the unknown We were lost, then home Into the unknown Into the unknown Saint Boogie, lead us on (lead us on) [Bridge | warm emotional resonance] He asked your name He asked mine too Then smiled like he already knew A ring of light A holy sound He brought our trembling hearts around He said, “Take this love And make it stay” Then blessed our fear away [Final Chorus] Into the unknown Into the unknown We were lost, then home Into the unknown Into the unknown Saint Boogie, lead us on (lead us on) Into the unknown Into the unknown Now you’re my wife, my home (my home) Into the unknown Into the unknown Saint Boogie made it so (made it so)
