[Verse] Spud grabbed a wrench with a grin Opened the hood didn't know where to begin Dropped all the bolts scattered tools on the floor Yet he rolled with glee and caught every snore [Verse 2] Spark plugs in water oil mixed with tar Bumped into the battery lost in the car Snapped a wire added mud to the gear Yet somehow he felt the fix was near [Chorus] Spud the mechanic fixing cars oh what a sight He messes up but it still rides right Takes it for a spin down the road tonight Spud's auto adventure is outta sight [Verse 3] Transmission's in reverse steering's upside down Exhaust blowing solution all through town People stared wondered how it could run Spud's rolling around -- having so much fun [Bridge] Smoke from the tailpipe but he's still on track Wind on his skin as he leans back Roots with laughter tires spinning round Spud's on a ride to nowhere bound [Verse 4] Brakes mean more gas, mirrors pointing down Headlights like disco lights don't make a sound Yet he's cruising smooth like a high-speed chase Spud's fix transformed into grace [Chorus] Spud the mechanic fixing cars oh what a sight He messes up but it still rides right Takes it for a spin down the road tonight Spud's auto adventure is outta sight
