Title: Roxi-Band: Studio: Chant 4 — Moving Prayer
[PROLOGUE] [JILL]: (Electric bass alone; dirty syncopated funk riff, two bars, then stops.) ROXI: (Adult female spoken voice; mature smoky alto timbre; unmistakable Nordic accent; warm, direct, over the returning bass.) This one's for lentevleidam. I found your Chant 4 and expected another quiet devotional song. Then that little YOD... HAY... VAV... HAY kept following me around. Not because it told me to sit still. Because underneath all that stillness I heard something that could move. A bass could argue with it. A guitar could bite it. A beat could run with it. And that prayer could still be there. So thank you for making the song that made me want to mess with it. This is our answer to Chant 4. With affection— and considerably less sitting still. [INTRO] [MILFRED]: (Explodes into 172 BPM drum-and-bass pulse; tight kick, snare and rapid hi-hat subdivisions.) [JILL]: (Funk riff returns beneath the fast drums; heavy ghost notes and slap punctuation.) ROXI: (Overdriven electric guitar answers the bass with clipped chords.) [SEPHYR-GLEN]: (Rhodes punches syncopated soul chords.) [LIZ]: (Chromatic harmonica fires a short rising hook.) [VERSE 1] ROXI: (Clean punk-rap; tight consonants, syncopated phrasing.) YOD—got a word in the pocket, HAY—let it breathe, don't lock it, VAV—little pulse gonna knock it, HAY—now the whole damn room can rock it. I came with noise in my head, too many things that somebody said, too many answers already fed— so I left one question alive instead. [JILL]: (Bass drops to a single low note.) Can stillness dance? [MILFRED]: (One snare crack; immediate return to full pulse.) [CHORUS] [SEPHYR-GLEN]: (Hammond opens beneath Rhodes; bright soul harmony.) [JILL]: (Heavy melodic funk pocket against the fast drums.) ROXI: (Strong melodic alto; broad soul-pop hook.) YOD HAY VAV HAY, I am here but I won't stand still. YOD HAY VAV HAY, quiet heart with a moving will. Yahshua, meet me in the sound. Holy Spirit, turn me around. Hands wide open, feet on the ground— YOD HAY VAV HAY! [VERSE 2] [MILFRED]: (Half-time punk backbeat against continuing rapid electronic percussion.) ROXI: (Punk-rap; increasingly dense internal rhythm.) No proving, no pose, no spiritual uniform, nobody knows how a breath becomes a beat, how a prayer gets dirt on its feet. I don't need silence frozen in place. Give it a kick, give it some bass. Give Jill the bottom, Glen the space, Liz blow a hole right through the phrase. [LIZ]: (Chromatic harmonica tears through the final word with a bent, bluesy answer.) ROXI: (Laughing spoken voice.) There. That's better. [BREAK] [JILL]: (Electric bass feature; syncopated sixteenths, dead notes, octave jump, then a huge low sustained note.) [MILFRED]: (Answers Jill with displaced kick accents, then cuts completely.) [SEPHYR-GLEN]: (Rhodes alone; warm gospel voicing.) ROXI: (Soft singing.) You were. You are. You will be. Nothing has to stop moving for me to hear You. Yahshua— here I am. [DROP] [MILFRED]: (Full 172 BPM drum-and-bass impact returns.) [JILL]: (Bass locks into a savage repeating funk figure.) [SEPHYR-GLEN]: (Dirty synth bass accents double only the final beat of each phrase; Hammond sustains above.) [LIZ]: (Switches from harmonica to bass clarinet after a brief rest; low rhythmic counterline.) ROXI: (Punk-rap alternating with shouted melodic answers.) YOD! Let it breathe! HAY! Let it break! VAV! Let the old pulse shake! HAY! No throne, no pose— just open hands and wherever this goes! [FINAL CHORUS] ROXI: (Full smoky soul alto over the drum-and-bass drive.) YOD HAY VAV HAY, I am here and I'm listening. YOD HAY VAV HAY, every moving thing can sing. Yahshua, meet me in the sound. Holy Spirit, move it around. Heart wide open, feet on the ground— YOD HAY VAV HAY! [OUTRO] [MILFRED]: (Rapid beat collapses into halftime, then stops.) [SEPHYR-GLEN]: (Hammond holds one warm unresolved chord.) [LIZ]: (Bass clarinet releases one low breathy note.) [JILL]: (Plays the original opening funk riff once, softly.) ROXI: (Clean electric guitar gives four separated harmonics.) YOD. HAY. VAV. HAY. ROXI: (Spoken softly after the guitar decays.) Thank you, lentevleidam. [END]
