[Verse 1 – Gloom-tober] Gloom-tober came down from the northern hills, a dark, tall creature with Cloud-decke as cloak. A Fog-schleier curled around his knees, and Dauer-rain followed where he walked. He came to bring the autumn-Zeit, to turn the ancient Jahrlauf-wheel. He had a task to carry out, and knew exactly what makes it real. He gathered Stein-moss and Eichel-chain, Horse-kastanien, Whale-nuss, so spiritual. He checked the Klöppel for the bell, and packed his things for the ritual. [Verse 2 – Düster-rabid] Düster-rabid was small and dark, ears like Easter-hase and Adler-eyes. He lived among the village folk, and noticed their Über-look with disguise. The Stubble-feld was frozen hard, the Dauer-rain would not leave soon. The Harvest-fest was not yet done, but Kälte-break had come at noon. The Lantern-umzug could not begin, the Kartoffel-fire stayed cold and wet. The Zwiebel-cake would not bake, and Glüh-punch could not warm them yet. [Pre-Chorus 1 – Move] He followed Gloom-tober through the trees, to ask him why he wandered like he seeks. [Chorus 1 - dialogue] Düster-rabid spoke with Gloom-tober what was wrong. “Why don't you ring the autumn in?” “One piece of the Bell-klöppel is missing.” [Both voices:] “Without it autumn will fall out.” “Are you ready to seek it together now?” “Aye, lets seek the tile from the Bell-klöppel." [Verse 3 – The wrong tiles] They searched beneath the forest-bäume, and first they found a Flies-pilz. They searched around roots and Blätter-carpet, but there was no missing piece. They searched beside the Stubble-feld, and found an old pair of Gummi-boots. Inside they found some Früchte-bread, but not the piece they sought. Until the Dämmer-light they searched, it grew dim on the Wald-clearing. The forest vanished in the dark, too dark to search a Klöppel-thing. [Pre-Chorus 2 – Move] They turned toward the Dorf-Center, and slept the night at the Lager-fire. [Chorus 2 - dialogue] Düster-rabid spoke with Gloom-tober on the next morning: “What do you see up in the Village-Linde?” “The kite with the missing piece on the kite-Schweif!” [Both voices:] “Quick, before it flies away!” “Are you ready to catch it together now?” “Aye, let's catch the kite-Schweif!” [Verse 4 – Hunting the Kite] A Sturm-gust tore the kite away, the kite-Schweif vanished in the sky. They ran behind it without früh-piece, while Gloom-tober cried, “Don't let it fly!” The kite flew over a Höllen-ravine, too deep for them to cross. “Use your Cloud-decke!” Düster-rabid cried, and Gloom-tober built the bridge across. Then a real dragon blocked their way, its Feuer-breath burned hot and bright. “Use your Fog-schleier!” Düster-rabid cried, and they slipped past with vanish-might. [Bridge - reparing the bell] There it was, upon a Herbst-coloured Leaf-haufen, the missing tile lay shining in the Hallimasch. They snatched it up and hurried back, before the next Sturm-gust made the forest hush. They reached Gloom-tober's Zeremonie-bell, with Kürbis-kopf and pumpkin-head nearby. “Ring in the autumn!” Gloom-tober cried, and Düster-rabid rang the Bell-klöppel high. The Kälte-break began to disappear, the Herbst-sun came shining through. The Heiz-season could now be put aside, and Zug-birds crossed the sky anew. And from the village came a mighty cheer, the Harvest-fest was finally near. They heard the people celebrating, and knew the autumn-time was here. [Final Chorus - teamplay] Düster-rabid spoke with Gloom-tober “What do you call what we have done?” “Das nennt sich Zusammen-play — or, as the Dengländer says, Together-Spiel!” “If everyone needs an outcome, then everyone should contribute to it.” [Outro - friendship] Together they jumped to the Harvest-fest, where Lantern-umzug and feather-weißer waited. They shared Brat-apple around the Dorf-fire, and danced together as friends translated.
