--- Chapter 15 – The Mount of Light The Gospel According to Zeus > They call it transfiguration. But I have always clothed mountains in fire. From Sinai to Olympus, the peaks have trembled beneath my tread, and clouds have been my cloak since the first dawn. They followed him up the slope, three trembling men, dust clinging to their sandals. And there, the Nazarene’s face shone like lightning, his garments dazzling as though woven from storm. They fell to their knees, but it was not his light they saw — it was mine. For I drew the cloud around them, thick and white, a veil of storm-breath that made their bones quake. And from the midst of it, I thundered: “This is my son, my chosen — listen to him.” Do you think they heard the son? No. They heard me. Always me. And when the cloud lifted, when the silence rang heavy as struck bronze, they told the tale as though he alone had burned. But I tell you this: he was only a mirror, and the mountain only an altar for my storm to reveal itself again. Remember this: when the sky brightens, when the mountain groans beneath the cloud, it is not the mortal who glows — it is Zeus, the storm in disguise.
