Ladder To The Light (Remastered)

style after everclears "what's it's like", alternative rock, sad but that just how life is

[Pre-Chorus]
A not so wise man said “Go quote Plato”
Kinda late for that lesson when the light’s burned low
Understanding grows so heavy when your mind’s long gone
You’re reaching for a ladder
On a ceiling with no dawn

[Chorus]
You keep climbing that ladder to the light
But you built it on a shadow
On a lie
Every rung cuts deeper in your hands
You don’t even know where you stand
You keep climbing that ladder to the light
Won’t look down and you won’t look right
I’m done holding it steady for you
If you fall
That’s what truth’s gonna do

[Verse 2]
You call it “just pressure”
I call it control
You say you’re half-empty
Still
You drank me whole
You dress up your damage
As some holy quest
But every blessing you brag about
Leaves my spirit less

[Pre-Chorus]
That not so wise man said “Go quote Plato”
You recite it like a riddle you don’t care to know
Understanding feels like armor when you stand alone
You’re reaching for a ladder
On a sky that’s made of stone

[Bridge]
I won’t beg your eyes to open (oh no)
Won’t break myself to fix what’s broken
If you need a heart to blame
Say my name
Say my name
I’ll be walking from the frame

[Chorus]
You keep climbing that ladder to the light
But you built it on a shadow
On a lie
Every rung cuts deeper in your hands
You don’t even know where you stand
You keep climbing that ladder to the light
I’m already far beyond your sight
I’m done holding it steady for you
If you fall
That’s what truth’s gonna do
